The unhealthy competition to which NWKRTC and private buses plying between Hubli and Dharwad have resorted to is posing threat to other motorists on the road. The violation of traffic rules by the bus crew is leaving the motorists worried.
What should be done to make the roads safer?
First thing is the unhealthy competition between NWKRTC and private buses should be stopped. They should understand that they are here to provide service to the people of hubli-dharwad not to compete with each other and make more profit. The NWKRTC buses time table between hubli-dharwad should be synchronized with private buses time table so that every bus will have its own schedule either private or departmental. Second thing is over taking between them should be totally prohibited. The bus which leaves early should reach early. There should not be any hurry in reaching destination. Speed lock should be placed for all the buses and most important thing is either government or private, all buses should be asked to stop only at the defined stops only. Not wherever they like and they should stop at all the mandatory stops. All bus stops should be made at the side of the road and buses should be parked at stops on the side road not on the main road blocking the actual path. Many accidents take place at bus stop only when the ongoing vehicle tries to overtake the standing bus. Scheduling of bus times should be fixed in such a way that it benefits the passengers and avoids the competition. Motorist should not over take these buses and actually over taking between hubli-dharwad roads should be totally prohibited for all vehicles. CC Camera should be used to monitor the traffic flow. Stray animals should not be allowed to wander on the roads. Every bus driver should report to controller about departure and arrival timing so that they are on schedule not before or after. And traffic law enforcement officers should punish even NWKRTC bus drivers also for violation of rules and action should be taken against them. Accident zones should be identified and more speed breakers should be installed. It is better to have road dividers between hubli-dharwad though it is single line in order to avoid overtaking and accidents.
